Private Label & OEM
Put your brand on factory-made products — from prototype to delivered OEM order.
Private label is how you stop reselling someone else's product and start owning yours. We take a factory-made product, put your brand on it — logo, packaging, and where it's worth it, custom features or tooling — and deliver a finished OEM order under your name.
Whether you want a ready design lightly customised or a product built to your spec from scratch, we handle the factory side: sampling, MOQ, branding, quality, and shipping — so you launch a product, not a sourcing project.
Who this is for
This service is for:
- Brands launching a product line under their own label.
- Sellers who want to differentiate beyond reselling generic goods.
- Companies ready to commit to OEM minimums, typically from 500–1,000 units.
What we do
- 1
Product & spec
We define the product, materials, and brand requirements.
- 2
Factory match
We find a factory that can make it to spec at your volume.
- 3
Prototype
We manage prototyping and revisions until it's right.
- 4
Brand it
We apply your logo, packaging, and any customization.
- 5
Produce & deliver
We run production with QC and ship to you.
OEM or ODM — two ways to private-label
Both put your brand on the product. The difference is who designs it — which decides your cost, speed, and how unique the result is.
- Who designs it
- The factory; you just resell
- Customisation
- None
- Speed to launch
- Fastest
- MOQ & cost
- Lowest
- How unique
- Not at all
- Who designs it
- Factory's design, your branding
- Customisation
- Logo, packaging, minor tweaks
- Speed to launch
- Fast
- MOQ & cost
- Moderate
- How unique
- Lightly differentiated
- Who designs it
- You — built to your spec
- Customisation
- Full — features, materials, tooling
- Speed to launch
- Slower — sampling & tooling
- MOQ & cost
- Higher — tooling upfront
- How unique
- Genuinely your own product
From idea to delivered order
Private label has more moving parts than a plain buy — design, samples, tooling, branding, QC. We run them in sequence so nothing stalls, and you approve each gate before money moves to the next.
You sign off the sample before mass production; we don't start the line on a guess.
What we handle
We cover the whole factory side of launching a product, including the negotiations and checks that protect your brand and your margin.
You stay in control of the decisions; we handle the legwork in Chinese, on the ground.
- Matching a factory that can build to your spec
- MOQ and price negotiation in Chinese
- Branded samples before any mass run
- Custom tooling, moulds, or formulation (OEM)
- Your logo, artwork, and custom packaging
- Quality inspection before the balance is paid
- Consolidated shipping to your market
What you can private-label
Most factory-made consumer and industrial goods can carry your brand. A few need certification or a licence before they can sell in your market — we flag that early.
If you're not sure your product fits, send the idea and we'll tell you what's realistic.
Why it matters
The problem we solve — and how we solve it.
OEM deals fall apart over unclear specs and miscommunication.
We translate and manage specs precisely with the factory.
Prototyping drags on for months without someone on the ground.
We push iterations locally and keep timelines tight.
Minimums and tooling costs surprise first-time OEM buyers.
We lay out MOQs, tooling, and costs up front.
How we compare
| Silk Way Sourcing | Typical logistics company | Alibaba sourcing | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spec management | Translated & enforced | Not offered | You manage it |
| Prototyping | Driven on the ground | Not applicable | Slow, remote |
| Branding | Logo + packaging + QC | Not applicable | Seller-dependent |
| Cost clarity | MOQ & tooling up front | Not applicable | Often unclear |
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between OEM and ODM?
ODM means the factory already has the design — you add your brand and minor tweaks, which is faster and cheaper. OEM means the product is built to your own design or spec, often with custom tooling, so it's more unique but carries a higher MOQ and cost.
What's the minimum order for private label?
It depends on the product and whether it's OEM or ODM — ODM is lower, OEM is higher because of tooling. We confirm the real MOQ for your specific product before you commit.
Can I start with a sample before committing?
Yes — always. You get a branded sample to approve before any mass production, so you're not betting on a render or a description.
Do you handle custom packaging too?
Yes. Branding and packaging are part of a private-label project — see our custom packaging service for what's possible.
Will my design or idea stay confidential?
We work with vetted factories and can arrange NDAs, and we only share your spec with the factories you approve.
How long does a private-label project take?
ODM is faster — often weeks. OEM with custom tooling takes longer. We give you a realistic timeline at the spec stage, before you commit.
Do you check quality before shipping?
Yes. We inspect before the balance payment, the same as our quality inspection service, so brand-damaging defects are caught in China.
How much does private label cost?
Pricing isn't fixed — it depends on the complexity, scope, and resources the job needs. Tell us what you're planning and we'll give you a clear quote up front, with no hidden costs.
What importers say after working with us
Sourcing wins across steel, solar, energy storage, construction materials and supplier verification. Client names are withheld for confidentiality.

Our own line of bentonite cat litter — granule samples checked for clumping and dust, printed bags done right, a full container delivered.
Pet-care brand · Ukraine - Private label
Private-label supplements with our own branding. They worked through physical samples of capsules and powders before we committed.
Supplement brand · UAE - Steel & metals
We needed 200 tonnes of hot-rolled coil and kept getting quotes from traders. Silk Way took us straight to the mill, verified it, and inspected the load before we paid the balance.
