- 3,500+Successful deliveries
- 340+Verified supplier relationships
- 7 yrsSourcing from inside China
Supplier search finds you the right factory. Product sourcing — the buy-out — is what happens next: we place the order, pay the supplier in RMB, gather everything at our China warehouse, check it, and hand you one consolidated shipment ready to move. It's how you buy from China's domestic platforms without a Chinese company, a yuan bank account, or a word of Mandarin.
We buy directly from 1688, Taobao, Tmall and Pinduoduo — where domestic prices run far below the export listings on Alibaba — and from factories we already work with. You send the links or the spec; we handle payment, supplier communication, consolidation, and a check before anything leaves China.

Where we buy for you
Each Chinese platform is built for a different kind of buyer. We use the right one for your product — and combine sellers across platforms into a single order.
1688.com
China's domestic wholesale platform. Factory and distributor pricing, often 2–3× below Alibaba export rates. Chinese-only, no international shipping — we bridge both.
Taobao
China's consumer marketplace, like Amazon. Best for retail quantities, samples, and hard-to-find items across every category.
Tmall
Taobao's brand-verified tier. Official flagship stores for genuine branded and higher-assurance goods.
Pinduoduo
Deep-discount, group-buying platform. Lowest prices on commodity goods when volume and timing line up.
Factory direct
For repeat or larger orders we buy straight from the manufacturer, skipping the platform fee entirely.
1688 vs Taobao vs Alibaba: which platform your goods come from
The same factory often sells on several platforms at different prices, because each one serves a different buyer. Alibaba is built for foreign importers and priced accordingly; 1688 is where Chinese wholesalers buy. Knowing which side a quote comes from explains most of the price gap.
| Platform | Price level | Typical minimum | Ships abroad | Payment | Interface |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1688.com | Domestic wholesale — the lowest | Wholesale tiers, often a carton | No, mainland only | Alipay, RMB transfer | Chinese |
| Taobao | Domestic retail | 1 piece | Rarely | Alipay | Chinese |
| Tmall | Domestic retail, brand-verified | 1 piece | Rarely | Alipay | Chinese |
| Pinduoduo | Domestic retail, heavily discounted | 1 piece | No | Alipay, WeChat Pay | Chinese |
| Alibaba.com | Export B2B, typically 20–30% higher | Export MOQ, usually larger | Yes | T/T, card, Trade Assurance | English |
| AliExpress | Export retail, freight priced in | 1 piece | Yes | Card | English |
Domestic prices are quoted in RMB and exclude export packing, inspection and freight, so compare landed cost rather than the listing. The gap is widest on commodity goods and narrowest on custom-made items, where you are dealing with the factory directly either way.
What a product buy-out includes
A buy-out is more than clicking 'order'. We act as your purchasing department inside China — clarifying the listing with the seller, paying in local currency, and catching problems before they ship halfway around the world.
Everything lands at our warehouse first, so multiple sellers become one shipment and nothing leaves without a look.
- Payment to sellers in RMB — no foreign-card surcharges or blocked transfers
- Order placed and clarified with the seller in Chinese
- Goods received and consolidated at our China warehouse
- Photo check on arrival — quantity, model, obvious defects
- Multiple sellers combined into one shipment
- Wrong or defective items raised with the seller before dispatch
- Onward delivery by sea, rail, or air to your country
Why 1688 prices beat the export market
The same factory often lists two prices: a low domestic price on 1688 for Chinese buyers, and a higher export price on Alibaba aimed at foreigners. Buying on the domestic side — in Chinese, paying in RMB — is where the saving comes from.
On commodity goods the gap is large enough that the buy-out fee pays for itself several times over.
How buy-out pricing works
Buying on your behalf is normally charged as a commission on the order value, because the work scales with what is bought: more sellers, more payments, more parcels to receive, check and consolidate. That is the model we work to, and it is agreed before we buy anything.
What is never inside that number, with any agent, is international freight, duties and taxes in your country, and inspection if you want it. Treat a quote that appears to include everything with suspicion — it usually means a freight assumption is doing the hiding, and freight is the number that moves most.

What we can — and can't — buy
Most goods are straightforward. A few categories need extra steps or aren't worth the risk — we tell you up front, not after you've paid.
If something needs certification, an import licence, or special transport, we flag it during the brief.
Where buying from 1688 yourself goes wrong
The problem we solve — and how we solve it.
1688 and Taobao require a Chinese phone, ID, and bank — closed to most foreign buyers.
We buy on your behalf with our local accounts.
Alibaba export listings cost 20–30% more than the same goods domestically.
We source at domestic prices and pass them through.
Multiple sellers mean multiple shipments and fees.
We consolidate everything into one shipment.

Product sourcing from China: common questions
What's the difference between product sourcing and supplier search?
Supplier search finds and vets the right factory; product sourcing is the actual purchase — we place the order, pay in RMB, consolidate, and ship. Many clients use search once to find a supplier, then buy-out for every reorder.
Is there a minimum order?
There's no fixed minimum, but very small orders carry proportionally higher handling and shipping costs. As a rough guide, a buy-out makes economic sense from a few hundred dollars of goods upward. We'll tell you honestly if your order is too small to be worth it.
Which platforms can you buy from?
1688, Taobao, Tmall, Pinduoduo and Alibaba, plus direct from factories we work with. Send us the links or a description and we'll source from wherever the price and quality are best.
How does payment work — do I need yuan?
No. You pay us in your currency; we pay the Chinese sellers in RMB from our local accounts. That avoids blocked foreign-card payments and the surcharges sellers add for international transfers.
Can you buy branded products?
Genuine branded goods, yes — but only with proof you're authorized to sell them. We don't buy counterfeits or replicas under any circumstances, because they'll be seized at customs and put your business at risk.
Do you check the goods before shipping?
Every order gets a photo check on arrival at our warehouse — quantity, model, and obvious defects. For higher-value orders we recommend a full quality inspection before dispatch, which we can arrange.
What happens if an item is wrong or defective?
Because goods pass through our warehouse first, we catch wrong or damaged items before they ship — and raise it with the seller for replacement or refund while the unpaid balance still gives you leverage.
What currency are 1688 prices in?
Chinese yuan (RMB), and they are domestic prices: no export markup, no international shipping option in most listings, and no allowance for foreign payment methods. We pay sellers in RMB from our Chinese account, so you settle one invoice in your own currency and never need a yuan account or Alipay.
Can I order from 1688 without an agent?
Technically yes, but you would need a Chinese phone number, a verified Alipay account, a mainland delivery address and enough Mandarin to handle a dispute. Most 1688 sellers will not ship abroad, will not accept a foreign card, and will not answer in English. An agent replaces all of that with a single invoice and one shipment.
How much does product sourcing cost?
Buy-out is normally charged as a commission on the order value, because the work scales with what is bought — more sellers, more payments, more parcels to receive and consolidate. We agree it before buying anything. Freight, duties and any inspection sit outside that number, with us as with any agent; a quote that appears to include everything is usually hiding a freight assumption.
