Supplier Search

We find and shortlist verified Chinese manufacturers — not trading agents — and get you domestic wholesale pricing.

Finding a reliable supplier in China is the part of importing that goes wrong most often. Search Alibaba in English and you mostly reach trading companies that re-sell factory goods with a 10–20% margin; the real manufacturers — the ones quoting domestic wholesale prices — list on Chinese-language platforms and rarely answer foreign buyers in English. The result is weeks of dead-end emails, inflated quotes, and no clear way to tell a factory from a middleman.

Silk Way Sourcing closes that gap. We are a China-based sourcing team that searches the same domestic channels Chinese buyers use — 1688, industry directories, trade fairs, and our own factory network — and we negotiate in Mandarin. Instead of a list of profiles you have to sift yourself, you get a shortlist of 3–5 verified manufacturers matched to your product spec, target price, and order volume, with quotes and lead times lined up side by side.

The right fit

Who this is for

This service is for:

  • Importers who keep landing on traders and middlemen instead of the actual factory.
  • Buyers sourcing a new product category who need 3–5 vetted manufacturers to compare.
  • Companies ordering from one container / 20 MT per shipment who want factory-direct pricing.

How and where we find factories

Most foreign buyers only ever see the slice of the Chinese market that markets to them in English — and that slice is dominated by trading companies, because traders invest in export-facing listings while factories focus on production. We search the domestic side instead, in Mandarin, cross-referencing several sources to separate genuine manufacturers from resellers.

For each candidate we confirm the factory actually makes what it claims to make before it ever reaches your shortlist.

How we verify a factory is real

Anyone can call themselves a manufacturer online. Confirming it takes checks that are hard to fake — exactly the work a remote, English-only search skips. We run that verification before recommending anyone, and arrange a factory visit or third-party inspection where the order size justifies it.

It is also how we catch a genuine factory that simply can't meet your volume, quality, or certification needs — before you commit a deposit.

Verification checklist
  • Business registration and licence on file
  • Confirmed factory status — not a trading reseller
  • Export history and time active on domestic platforms
  • Production capacity matched to your volume
  • Product certifications relevant to your market
  • Responsiveness and communication in practice
  • On-site visit or third-party audit where it matters

What you receive

You don't get a raw list of links to sift. You get a decision-ready shortlist: 3–5 verified manufacturers compared side by side, each with quotes, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms gathered in Chinese at domestic rates — plus our recommendation on the best fit and why.

Where volume affects price, we request tiered pricing so you can see how cost moves as your order grows. Once you've reviewed the shortlist, we can request and consolidate samples from the factories you want to compare before you place a production order.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does a supplier search take?

Most searches deliver a shortlist within days rather than weeks. Simple, widely made products move fastest; technical or highly customised items take longer because verification and quoting involve more back-and-forth with each factory. We confirm a realistic timeline when we scope your brief.

How do you tell a real factory from a trading company?

We check business-registration records and licences, ask targeted questions about equipment, production capacity, and certifications, and cross-reference what a supplier claims against domestic platform data. Where it matters, we arrange a factory visit or inspection. Traders rarely survive that level of scrutiny.

How many suppliers will I receive?

Typically a shortlist of 3–5 verified manufacturers — enough to compare pricing and terms meaningfully, without burying you in profiles to sift through yourself. If a niche product only has one or two genuine makers, we tell you that rather than padding the list.

What do you need from me to start?

A product brief: specifications or a sample, your target price, expected order volume, and any certifications or standards the product must meet. The more precise the brief, the tighter and faster the shortlist. We can help you firm up the spec if you're sourcing a new category.

Is there a minimum order volume?

Supplier search works best when you're ordering at wholesale volumes — factory-direct pricing assumes factory-scale orders. Very small one-off quantities are usually better served by a trader or marketplace. If you're unsure whether your volume fits, ask us before you commit.

Do you check that a supplier is reliable, not just real?

Yes. Confirming a factory exists is only the first step; we also assess production capacity, certifications, and track record so you're not matched with a real factory that still can't meet your volume or quality requirements.

Can you get samples from the shortlisted factories?

Yes. Once you've reviewed the shortlist we can request and consolidate samples from the factories you want to compare, so you assess real product quality before committing to a production order.

What does a supplier search cost?

Pricing isn't fixed — it depends on the complexity, scope, and resources your project needs. Contact us with your product and requirements and we'll give you a clear quote up front, with no markup hidden inside your supplier's pricing.

  • Supplier verification
Before committing to a long-term supplier we asked Silk Way to verify three 'factories'. Two were middlemen. That check paid for itself many times over.
