- Raise the unit price in exchange for a smaller volume — the most direct compromise, which preserves the factory's margin on the batch.
- Offer better payment terms (a higher deposit) — this reduces risk for the factory and frees its hands in negotiations.
- Start with stock colors and materials — this way you avoid raw-material minimums and the cost of new tooling.
- Separate the tooling cost from the run — pay for the mold separately and keep the run itself small. This often saves OEM orders.
